Letter from Grand Master Bai

I was born in Seoul, Korea. By the age of 11, I had begun training in Taekwondo, Hap kido, Judo, Swordsmanship, and Moa Han Mou Ru. While I was working towards my degree in Precision Mechanical Engineering at Hanyang University in Seoul, I led the University's Taekwondo team as its captain.

Soon after graduation, I opened my first Taekwondo school. After serving in the Korean army and finally coming to the United States in 1973.

I settled in Rhode Island and lived there for six months. There I lived amongst monks in a Buddhist temple and soon after, I began teaching Taekwondo at Brown University and M.I. T. in Boston.

In 1975, I moved to New Jersey and opened for business in the nice and quiet town of Ramsey. After 2 trials runs at different locations, I was finally able to purchase the building which still houses my Ramsey school. That was 1990. Now, Bai's Taekwondo is the oldest and largest school in the area.

In 1981, Ifounded the Pan Am American Han Moo Kwan Taekwondo Federation. The membership is growing steadily and it spans across the nation. I tested for my 9th degree black belt and received it in 1997 at World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul, Korea.

It has been very great 30 years! The Ramsey and Franklin Lakes schools have kept me busy. I have had more than 2000 students who achieved their black belts.
